Consorzio per Valutazioni Biologiche e Farmacologiche (CVBF) is a not-for-profit scientific organization, whose mission is to perform research and education in the pharmaceutical field. The main areas of activity are life sciences and bio-technologies, drug development for small populations (pediatric and rare diseases), research management, clinical trial design and conduction, ethics and regulatory, pediatric patient’s engagement and advocacy.
CVBF is particularly committed to training activities addressed to public bodies, research institutes and private companies and is involved in the design and execution of educational programmes and in the organization of residential as well as e-learning training activities.
Moreover, CVBF has participated in the training programme, including lessons, staff exchange and summer schools, developed in the framework of the EU-funded project SMART and addressing staff from the Children’s Memorial Health Institute (IPCZD, Warsaw) aimed to improve the level of high-quality pediatric research in Poland.
CVBF has developed a considerable expertise in communication and dissemination field leading and managing activities in several EU-funded projects (GAPP, DEEP, CloSed and InNerMeD). It is particularly committed in the development of age-appropriate informative material to duly inform children and families involved in clinical studies (e.g. DEEP – http://www.deepproject.eu/information-booklets/ and GAPP – http://www.pediatricpain.eu/patients-and-families/ projects) and also coordinates the communication and networking activities of the TEDDY Network (https://www.teddynetwork.net/teddy-videos-drug-use-explained-to-children/).
CVBF is carrying out the project activities in collaboration with its partner University of Bari Aldo Moro (UNIBA). UNIBA offers various courses for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students and all its departments are engaged in scientific research. A long-lasting collaboration exists between CVBF, UNIBA and FGB that have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for their collaboration on several European projects (DEEP, GRiP, GAPP, SMART). In particular, the “Department of basic medical sciences, neurosciences and sense organs” is involved in the SPASD project considering its noteworthy efforts in improving patient care, and in promoting scientific research and educational activities in the field of autism spectrum disorder.
Main tasks in the project
CVBF as co-leader of Work Package 6 “Communication and dissemination” is mainly involved in the development of the Dissemination Plan, website and graphical identity of the project, press releases, and the e-learning courses dissemination plan. In addition, as co-leader of Work Package 7 “E-learning program management”, it is involved in the setup of the evaluation methodology and instruments, in the collection and analysis of data and in monitoring activities of teacher’s online registration and certificates. Moreover, CVBF in collaboration with “Department of basic medical sciences, neurosciences and sense organs (UNIBA)” contributes to the intellectual outputs produced in the Work Packages 2,3,4,5, and their translation in Italian and is also working to ensure accreditation of the four e-learning modules in Italy.
